Orientation

Anyway, the international orientation started on the 11 feb 2009 where we gathering outside winthrop hall at 0845. There we collected our Orientation folder and Programmes for the day. Inside the folder, there were lots of things such as a whole stack of buses and trains' timetable, visitor's map, campus security pamplet, guide of undergraduate Intenational Students 2009, our unit worksheet, oshc worldcare pamplet and lots more. After i got my folder, i met up wf jer,brenda,li wei, ju and bowie. So basically my whole gang was there except kiat. He's the odd one.haha. Anyway, other den my friends, I saw lots of familiar faces there, obviously ppl from canning college 2008. Oliver, Edward, Liz, John Chua, John Poh, Chia Hsin, Ansley, Santhia, Sophia, Huang, Kenneth, Kara, Jason, chipmunk *haha..i forgot her real name..sorry* and lots of april start students.

At 0915, we all went into Octagon Theatre from our welcoming sessions. As usual, there were lots of boring talks. Not suprising to know that there were lots of Malaysians and Singaporeans there. After all the boring talks, it was morning tea break. They serve biscuits and drinks outside the theatre and we gathered in our own groups. I was in Science 3. We had a little chat and off we went into Octagon Theatre for another briefing. It was still boring. haha. After that, it was again group discussion. At first, i was so glad when a woman announced that we could stay inside the building bcos it was freaking 40 degrees celcius outside. However, my group leader didnt care and he suggested that he will bring us to the river to have a better scenary. No offense, but it was freaking hot out there, ok?

We had some ice breakers durign our group discussion where i met taufiq(singaporean-science foundation), yi hong (Malaysian-honours' degree), thomas (vietnamese), Serene (South Korean-biomed) , an pakistan guy, a Singaporean who hates army so much =p, a 16 yrs old Russian gal who going to study psychology and most of them, i have already forgotten their names. I might remember them if i see their faces. Sorry guys=( Anyway, after our group discussion. It was time for lunch! Yeah, i was kinda hungry already since i onli ate 2 pieces of bread in the morning. We went over to trinity college for free lunch.

Ta Dah! It wasnt much though cos i got hungry again after a few hours. After lunch, it was our pre-enrolment sessions which our Faculty advisors. On our way there, i saw jer,brenda and sophia. Guess wat? they were lost. haha. that's funny. Yeah, i admit uwa is freaking big escpecially with lots of gardens and large fields. After the pre-enrolment session thingy, it was time to go home. Yeah, i was so glad cos i was so tired and hot. Its super duper hot here but the main problem that is we cant sweat! Sweating might be a good thing when its 40 degrees although it might smell a bit but it helps to keep our body cool. Went home, slept, wake up, had dinner,watched bride wars, waited for sis and nigel to come back from work and slept.

12 feb : It was enrolment day. Sis and nigel got up super early bcos nigel had exams and sis had work in vic hs. I woke up at aorund 8 sumthing and sat in front of the laptop trying to see what's inside the handbook cd they came us yesterday. After looking here and there, i was trying to figure what units was i going to take for this year, but mainly sem 1. I look around for a few another options and made a few decisions. At 1100, i heat up my prepared lunch and eat while finish watching the curious case of benjamin button. Took a shower and got ready to go to uni to enrol my units.

I got there half an hour earlier but the ppl there asked me to go in anyway. So i went in, not long afterthat, the advisor called me to join the other gal who was with him already. I guessed he must be tired repeating the same thing over and over again for the whole entire morning. he advised us on our units and we decided on whats units to get. I m actually taking the same units as the gal beside me. Btw her name is Ash. Well for sem 1, i will be studying human biology I, biological organic chemistry, calculas B and Java programming. Bcos i didnt want to do physics or another bio so i chose computer science and i hope i wouldnt be too difficult since i have learnt some of it before last year.

It was indeed a hectic day. After we decided on wat units to take. We have to photostat our passport,certified it,run down to the maths lab, enrol it, come back to get our photos taken, took our student cards, went to the computing lab to online register our classes. I did all this from 1300 to 1630. Plus lots of lining up and waiting. After all this, i took a bus from uwa to vic hs to meet up wf sis. We went to carousel to shop for a dress. Nigel's fren is getting married this coming sunday. We had pretzo and kfc for dinner. While i was in vic hs, i went over to my beloved unit 33 and chat with michelle til it was time to go home. =) Today, i m rotting at home while sis and nigel when to work in vic. haha.
